18U WINS THE CENTRAL STATES CHAMPIONSHIP!

By Chicago Hawks 02/12/2023, 7:45pm CST

A clean sweep for the 18U Midgets this weekend who came out 2022-2023 CSDHL Champs! The Hawks started their playoff weekend shutting down the Vikings 5-0 Thursday night followed by another shutout against the Jets Friday walking away with a 2-0 W!

The Sabres came out ready to play Saturday finding the back of the net early in the first period.  However, no amount of 5-on-3 penalty kills were going to keep these Hawks from coming out with a 4-2 victory! The team allowed one more goal this weekend when they found themselves in the championship game Sunday against the formidable Chesterfield Falcons.

With the stands packed full of excited and supportive fans, the boys came out ready and determined to walk away with the title! 4-1 was the final score after a full 3 period of solid offense, defense and goaltending. The team had an outstanding weekend, lighting the lamp 15 times and allowing only 3 goals against!

Congratulations to Coach Cannizzo, Brown, Fiflis, and this exceptionally-dedicated group of young men who continue to work hard and push themselves while adding another championship banner to their collection!

Senior Game 2023 Does Not Disappoint!

By Chicago Hawks 02/05/2023, 3:45pm CST

On Saturday, February 4th, the Club was honored in recognizing our senior players (14 total!) at the 4th Annual Chicago Hawks Hockey Club Senior Game.  Banners for each player were displayed around the rink, and each player took the ice with his parents to be acknowledged for their lifelong commitment to hockey and their dedication to the Chicago Hawks.

The rink was packed and the game was also a big success! The team racked up a 5-0 shutout win over the Chargers! Afterwards, the players, their families, and friends enjoyed a lunch reception at the rink.

A monumental thanks to organizer and Hawks mom Sue Macek for organizing such a great day for our boys. Senior Day committee members included Jane Ackerman, Maria Varchetto, Jennifer Culin, Fred & Diane Teichman, Melissa Darovic, Kelly Good, Bridget Ryndak, Jen Kotor, and Jen Olah.  And what's a senior game without DJ John Bellettini in the house? Thanks to John and Becky for being our masters of ceremonies!

And a special thanks to our Phantoms who came out to cheer the boys on the ice!! Their stick taps and tunnels for our seniors were awesome!

The Club can't thank you all enough for your time and efforts that went into this fabulous day. And best of luck to the players moving on to college next year! We'll miss you!

18U's Win The CCM World Invite Tournament!

By Chicago Hawks 11/06/2022, 7:30pm CST

The 18U Chicago Hawks took a break from CSDHL league play and walked away undefeated with the CCM Chicago World Invite Championship November 4-6th!

The team has had some challenges early this season with injuries, but the short bench isn’t keeping this team from giving 100% every time they step on the ice! Sno King Jr Thunderbirds (4-2) and Orange County HC (5-0) were up first Friday, followed by NH Jr. Monarchs (5-1) Saturday.

Those 3 W’s took the Hawks to the round of 16 where they let up 1 goal in a 5-1 win against the North Carolina Jr. Hurricanes. Turning back the clock was a big help in the team’s 3-game battle Sunday that started with Team  Philadelphia in the quarterfinals, followed by Stevenson High School (the #1 ranked high school in Illinois) in the semifinals, and finished with a 1-0 win in the Championship against the Texas Tigers! Both teams battled hard for two solid periods before the boys found the back of the net late in the 3rd!  The Hawks spent the last 1:40 fighting off a 6 on 4 and 5 on 4 penalty kill ending the game victorious!

With the support and dedication these players give each other day in and day out, it’s not surprising how the weekend ended! Proud to be a Hawk! Congratulations, Players and Coaches!
