The Hawks 16U Girls team capped off their season by earning the championship banner for the NIHL Girls 16U/19U Division! After a season full of highlights, including a first place finish in the NIHL seeding round and two tournament championships, the team entered the NIHL playoffs as the 3rd seed. They easily defeated the 6th seed Franklin Park Panthers 19U and 2nd seed Sabres 16U teams to earn their spot inthe championship game against top seed Badger City 19U.

The Hawks came to the championship game directly from a heartbreaking 2-1 loss in an AHAI round robin game, but they dug deep and found the grit and determination needed not only to hang with the fast and physical Badger City team, but to emerge with their own 2-1 victory. After a scoreless first period, the Hawks struck first with a goal mid-way through the second period. Badger City equalized early in the third, but the Hawks soon pulled ahead for good. After Badger City pulled their goalie with more than 3 minutes left and the Hawks were called for a penalty, the girls spent most of the last few minutes of the game in a 4 on 6 penalty kill, but they withstood intense pressure from Badger City to emerge victorious!
