It is a requirement that all first-year bantam skaters and goalies participate in a checking clinic prior to the start of the spring season. Player safety is the number one priority at the Chicago Hawks.
Skaters and goalies will receive instruction on the skills of body contact and on-ice awareness. While hockey is a physical sport, our goal is to reduce potential injuries by teaching players the proper techniques for body contact and helping them understand the importance of ice awareness. This clinic will help both first- and second-year bantams.
All players and goalies moving up to bantam levels are required to complete 2 hours of checking clinics before they are eligible to participate any games at the bantam level with body checking. The clinics are required by all 2008 birth year players moving up to bantams and open to older birth year players wishing to go through the clinics again as a refresher.
We are offering 3 dates to complete the 2-hour Checking Clinic requirement, but all players are welcome to attend all dates listed to better prepare themselves for body checking at the bantam level.
