The Chicago Hawks House "Travel B" program is for the more "recreational" player without the same time and financial commitment as Travel Hockey. Players do travel to other rinks in the Chicagoland area and play other teams that are also members of the league. What makes House "Travel B" different from other "travel" teams is that we do not hold tryouts, we do not cut players, and we follow balanced ice time (BIT). In the case where we have multiple teams at an age level (e.g., at the mite age level), we follow the league draft procedures and players are placed on equally balanced teams versus teams categorized by strength like Gold, Silver, Bronze, etc. We accept players, regardless of skill level, until rosters are full. We enjoy competitive recreational hockey where EVERYONE gets to play and have fun.
After being placed on a team, a Hawks travel B hockey player is expected to attend all regularly scheduled practices and games. This time commitment is critical to the growth of the player and success of the team. Each Hawks travel B hockey player can plan on skating approximately 2-3 times per week. In addition, each Hawks travel B team may compete in 2 - 4 out-of-town tournaments per season. Please note that the Chicago Hawks Equipment Policy does apply to this hockey program.
The Chicago Hawks offer two travel hockey seasons each calendar year – Fall/Winter and Spring. Fall/Winter is our "premier" season. Spring is structured to increase development and make more time available for other sports.
Fall/Winter Season
Spring Season
The Hawks House “Travel B” Program fields teams in the following league:
Northwest Hockey League – Fall/Winter Season
The Chicago Hawks House travel B teams typically compete in the Northwest Hockey League. NWHL offers our teams top rate hockey along with a competitive schedule. With their multiple tiering schedule, it ensures that we find the right competition for all of our teams. http://www.nwhleague.com/
Southwest Spring League – Spring Season
The South West Spring League (SWSL) was created seven years ago. The SWSL serves a certain geographic area and works to have convenient schedules for all participants. SWSL also helps transition players to the next age level (e.g., players who just finished their mite years and who are moving up to the squirt level). http://www.swslhockey.com/
